About the Course

This workshop will provide students the fundamental skills needed to successfully paint the human head from direct observation (a model). Students should already have a basic understanding of drawing from direct observation; some painting experience would also prove helpful but is not required. During the multi-day workshop, students will engage in a study of basic human-head proportions, cursory anatomy, and thorough sighting and measuring techniques and color theory as it applies to painting flesh. The workshop will begin with the completion of small drawn and painted studies and will culminate with the completion of a larger-scale portrait completed from a figure model directly observed in-studio.

No drawing or painting experience is required; this workshop is perfect for beginning artists and will also be beneficial for those who work at an intermediate level.

All necessary supplies will be provided by Foundation Art Academy. Students may bring their own supplies if they wish, but this is not necessary.

*Tuition Fee: $475
